Two mothers, united in the belief that their sons should attend school opened the School for Therapy, Education and Parenting of Children with Multiple Disabilities in February 1992.

Cameron Chong and Jordan Zaidie were the first two students at The STEP Centre. Other children soon joined the small group who worked together in the Church Hall of the Church of St. Margaret in Liguanea. A major milestone was achieved in 2000 when the school was recognized as an independent school by the Ministry of Education and received its first subvention from the government. Parental management has been maintained ensuring a standard of excellence.


A non- profit company with limited liability was incorporated in 2004, and is responsible for the school. Our school has now grown from two to twenty children, the number of children being limited by our location. Through our income generating card business we purchased our future home (4 Tremaine Road) in 2007 and look forward to moving into our very own school in the near future.
